Can a simple blood test make albumin therapy smarter for liver patients?
NCT ID NCT05056220
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a biomarker can predict which people with advanced liver cirrhosis and fluid buildup (ascites) will benefit from regular albumin infusions. About 240 adults will receive either albumin or a placebo every 10 days for 6 months. The goal is to see if the biomarker can reduce the number of serious liver-related complications like bleeding, infections, and kidney injury.
