Summary
This study tested whether a capsule containing pasteurized (killed) Akkermansia bacteria could help overweight or obese adults lose weight and improve metabolism. Sixty-one participants took either the bacteria or a placebo while following a low-carb diet. Researchers measured changes in body weight, body fat, waist size, and blood cholesterol levels.
