First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested whether a conversational AI system could safely and effectively take a patient's medical history before an urgent care appointment. About 100 adults with a new medical concern spoke with the AI a few days before seeing their doctor, while a physician monitored for safety. Researchers then evaluated the quality of the conversation, patient and doctor satisfaction, and compared the AI's suggested diagnosis to the actual one.
