Smartphone AI could revolutionize skin cancer checks

NCT ID NCT06221397

Summary

This study tested whether a computer program using artificial intelligence (AI) could accurately identify melanoma, a serious type of skin cancer, from photos of skin spots. Researchers took pictures of suspicious spots from 105 adults using a special smartphone camera and compared the AI's analysis to the final diagnosis from a biopsy or expert dermatologists. The goal was to see if this tool could help doctors detect skin cancer earlier and more accurately during routine check-ups.
