Summary
This study tested a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool designed to help primary care doctors decide which patients with skin conditions should be referred to a skin specialist (dermatologist). The goal was to see if the AI could make referrals more accurate, potentially reducing unnecessary specialist visits, lowering costs, and shortening wait times. Doctors took photos of patients' skin conditions, and the AI's recommendations were compared to the decisions of human specialists.
