AI steps into therapy sessions to coach therapists

NCT ID NCT05340738

Summary

This study tested whether an AI tool could help therapists improve the quality of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) they provide. Researchers worked with 449 therapists, supervisors, and clients across five community mental health clinics. The AI tool listened to recorded therapy sessions and gave therapists feedback on how closely they were following proven CBT techniques, comparing this approach to usual care without the tool.
