AI reads MRI scans to spot cancerous lumps without a biopsy

NCT ID NCT06073314

First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether artificial intelligence (AI) can help doctors tell if a soft tissue lump is cancerous (sarcoma) or harmless using MRI scans. 186 patients had extra MRI images taken, and AI algorithms were trained to identify cancer and its grade. The goal is to make diagnosis faster and more accurate, potentially reducing the need for surgical biopsies.
