AI vs. antibiotics: smart stethoscope trial aims to curb overuse
NCT ID NCT07362433
Summary
This study tests if an AI-powered digital stethoscope can help doctors safely give fewer antibiotics to children with pneumonia in rural Bangladesh. The AI analyzes lung sounds to decide if a child needs antibiotics or a placebo. Researchers will compare health outcomes in 2,500 children to see if using the AI tool works as well as the current standard practice of giving antibiotics to everyone.
