AI translates doctor speak for cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07519811

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using artificial intelligence (AI) to rewrite medical discharge letters into plain language helps cancer patients better understand their diagnosis, treatment, and next steps. About 150 adults with blood cancer or other cancers will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard letter or both the standard and an AI-simplified version. After reading, they fill out a questionnaire to measure how well they understood the information.
