AI model aims to predict surgery risks for stomach cancer patients
NCT ID NCT07401173
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing an artificial intelligence tool called DeepComp that uses CT scans and patient data to predict which stomach cancer patients are at high risk for major complications after surgery. Researchers will enroll 500 patients across five medical centers and compare the AI's predictions with what actually happens within 30 days after surgery. If accurate, this could help doctors plan better care and reduce risks for patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- DeepComp AI model (multimodal deep learning radiomics)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this AI tool could help doctors identify high-risk patients before surgery, allowing for better preparation and personalized care to reduce complications.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The AI model may not be accurate enough in real-world settings, and results may not apply to all patients or hospitals.
