AI could predict when prostate cancer becomes resistant to treatment

NCT ID NCT07376057

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests an artificial intelligence (AI) model that uses images from prostate biopsies to predict when prostate cancer will become resistant to hormone therapy. Researchers will enroll 150 patients with intermediate- to high-risk prostate cancer who are starting hormone therapy. The AI analyzes digitized biopsy slides and predicts whether resistance will occur within 12 months, between 12 and 24 months, or after 24 months. The goal is to see how well the AI's predictions match what actually happens.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Artificial intelligence (AI) model analyzing biopsy images

What this could lead to

If successful, this AI tool could help doctors personalize treatment plans by predicting how long hormone therapy will work for each patient.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage validation study. The AI model may not be accurate enough for real-world use, and results may not apply to all patients.
