AI could let doctors skip lab tests for tiny colon polyps

NCT ID NCT07362524

First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether an artificial intelligence (AI) system can help doctors in general hospitals accurately diagnose small colon polyps (≤5 mm) during a colonoscopy. If the AI is reliable, doctors may be able to decide on the spot whether to remove or leave the polyp, without needing a lab test. The study involves 363 adults and aims to see if follow-up recommendations based on the AI's diagnosis match those based on standard lab results.
