First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study is building an AI system that analyzes eye images to spot early signs of vision-threatening conditions in people with high myopia (severe nearsightedness). Researchers will collect data from 1,000 participants to train the AI to detect a key problem called posterior scleral staphyloma, which can lead to blindness. The goal is to help doctors diagnose and treat these issues earlier, especially for patients in remote areas.
