Smartwatch ECG may spot hidden heart failure in minutes

NCT ID NCT07488052

First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study will check if an artificial intelligence program can accurately detect low heart pumping function (ejection fraction) and other heart structure problems using a single-lead ECG from devices like an Apple Watch. About 5,000 adults at five hospitals in Taiwan will have their ECG results compared with standard heart ultrasound images taken within 30 days. If successful, this could lead to a simple, home-based screening tool for heart failure.
