AI assistant for colonoscopies aims to spot cancer instantly

NCT ID NCT06335654

Summary

This study tested a new artificial intelligence (AI) system designed to help doctors identify potentially cancerous growths in the colon during a routine colonoscopy. The AI, called EndoBRAIN, analyzes highly magnified images of colon tissue in real-time to suggest if a growth is likely non-cancerous, an adenoma (pre-cancer), or invasive cancer. Researchers compared the AI's suggestions to doctors' assessments and to final lab results from 680 patients to see if the AI could make colonoscopy diagnosis faster and more accurate.
