Summary

This study will test whether an artificial intelligence chatbot can encourage men who have sex with men in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to get tested for HIV. 80 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either automated chatbot messages with HIV testing information or standard educational materials. The main goal is to see if the chatbot increases the number of men who get tested within 180 days.

Active substance
Chatbot messages
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a low-cost way to increase HIV testing in at-risk communities.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early feasibility study (80 people) in one city, so results may not apply elsewhere. The chatbot may not change testing behavior.
