AI 'Ear' could give anesthesiologists early warning of breathing trouble

NCT ID NCT07275801

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 15, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study is testing a new AI-powered electronic stethoscope to see if it can detect breathing problems earlier than current monitors during certain types of anesthesia. Researchers will monitor 60 adults having elective breast surgery where they breathe on their own with a special mask. The goal is to see if listening to breathing sounds can warn doctors of issues like airway blockages before a patient's oxygen level drops, potentially making anesthesia safer.
