New AI aims to improve colonoscopy accuracy by accounting for scope speed

Summary
This study aims to create a more accurate artificial intelligence (AI) system for assessing how clean the bowel is during a colonoscopy. Current AI systems assume the colonoscope moves at a constant speed, which is not true in real procedures. By using a special positioning system (UPD-3) that tracks the scope's movement, the new AI will weigh how far the scope has traveled to give a better cleanliness score. The goal is to help doctors more reliably detect colorectal adenomas (precancerous polyps) in 700 participants.
