Which automated insulin pump keeps blood sugar tightest? study pits top systems Head-to-Head
NCT ID NCT06834334
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This completed study looked at 189 adults with type 1 diabetes who used one of three advanced hybrid closed-loop insulin pump systems: Medtronic Minimed 780G, Tandem T Slim X2, or CamAPS Fx. The goal was to see which system helped patients keep their blood sugar in a very tight range (70-140 mg/dL) for the longest time each day. Researchers also measured time in standard range, time above and below range, and other glucose control metrics. Since this is an observational study, it provides real-world insights but cannot prove one system is definitively better than another.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Advanced hybrid closed-loop systems (Medtronic Minimed 780G, Tandem T Slim X2, CamAPS Fx)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show which automated insulin pump system helps people with type 1 diabetes keep their blood sugar in a very tight healthy range, potentially reducing long-term complications.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a randomized trial, so results may be influenced by patient differences. It also only looks at short-term glucose data, not long-term health outcomes.
