Summary
This study aimed to understand why patients on long-term dialysis often develop serious blood vessel problems and heart disease. Researchers observed 100 dialysis patients to see if certain waste products in the body (called AGEs) and their receptor (RAGE) contribute to blood vessel hardening. The study measured these substances in blood and skin, and tracked blood vessel changes over time, but did not test any new treatments.
