Smartwatches track heart rhythm to predict stroke danger
NCT ID NCT07497906
Summary
This large observational study aims to understand the link between the amount of time a person spends in atrial fibrillation (AF) and their risk of having a stroke. It will follow 10,000 people with AF for two years, using their own smartwatches to monitor their heart rhythms, but will not provide any treatment. The goal is to find out if there is a specific threshold of AF that significantly increases stroke risk, which could help doctors decide when to start blood thinners.
