New study: can zapping heart rhythm problems save lives after valve repair?

NCT ID NCT07380932

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) who have already had a procedure to fix a leaky mitral valve. It compares two approaches: doing a catheter ablation (a procedure to fix the heartbeat) versus standard medical care. The goal is to see if ablation reduces the chance of serious heart problems, strokes, or death. About 956 participants will be followed for several years.
