Walking test beats guesswork for heart surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT07440407
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new method to prescribe aerobic exercise for people recovering from heart surgery. Instead of a complex exercise test, researchers used a simple six-minute walk test to set exercise intensity. Over 100 patients completed two weeks of supervised cycling with no serious side effects. The walking test method was safe, allowed higher exercise levels, and led to similar improvements in function and quality of life compared to the standard approach.
