Gymnasts' strength secrets: which cardio intensity boosts or hurts performance?

NCT ID NCT07415395

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at how different levels of aerobic exercise (like running) affect leg strength and power in 18 elite male youth gymnasts aged 15-18. Each gymnast tried three types of treadmill exercise on separate days: high-intensity intervals, moderate steady running, and low-intensity jogging. Their jumping and strength were measured before and 15 minutes after each session to see which intensity helps or hurts performance. The goal is to help coaches decide the best way to warm up or sequence training for young gymnasts.
