Exercise as medicine: new trial tests if aerobic workouts ease arthritis symptoms
NCT ID NCT07504887
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will test whether a 6-week aerobic exercise program can improve quality of life, mood, and fatigue in women with rheumatoid arthritis. Sixty-four participants with low disease activity will either continue standard care or add five weekly exercise sessions. Researchers will measure changes in physical function, depression, and inflammation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
aerobic exercise therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that regular aerobic exercise is a safe, drug-free way to improve daily life and mood for people with rheumatoid arthritis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 64 women who have mild disease. Results may not apply to men or those with more active arthritis. Exercise may be hard for some to maintain.
