New MRI scan could reveal Cancer's true aggressiveness
NCT ID NCT05599048
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing a special MRI scan that uses a unique contrast agent to see how aggressive advanced solid tumors are and how they respond to treatment. About 65 people with advanced solid tumors will get the scan before and during their standard cancer therapy. The goal is to see if this imaging method can predict treatment success better than current scans.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Hyperpolarized 13C-pyruvate and 13C,15N-urea (special contrast agents for MRI)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new way to quickly see if a cancer treatment is working, without needing a biopsy.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase study with only 65 people, so the results may not apply to everyone. The special MRI scan is still experimental and may not be better than current methods.
