New study aims to ease migrant mental health crisis with simple tools

NCT ID NCT07209306

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests two simple, talk-based programs developed by the World Health Organization to help migrants in Italy who are feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed. About 237 adults who have moved to Italy will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: one program called Self Help Plus, another called Doing What Matters, or a placebo. The goal is to see if these programs reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression better than the placebo, and whether they can be easily used in real-world settings.
