NCT ID NCT04857060
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether showing videos about care options to hospitalized patients aged 65 and older, or those with dementia, helps them make better advance care plans. Over 11,000 patients took part at two hospitals. The goal was to see if these video discussions lead to more documented care preferences and use of palliative care.

What this could lead to
If effective, this approach could help more elderly and dementia patients have their care wishes documented and respected, reducing unwanted treatments.
