Study aims to give voice to older blood cancer patients in critical care decisions

NCT ID NCT05433090

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether having advance care planning conversations with a trained facilitator during a hospital stay could help older adults with blood cancers. The goal was to see if these conversations helped patients think about and document their preferences for future medical care, especially near the end of life. Researchers measured how many patients completed the program and whether they filled out legal forms like a healthcare proxy or medical orders.
