New Artery-Blocking procedure tested as alternative to pills for Tough-to-Treat high blood pressure

NCT ID NCT05561361

Summary

This study is testing if a minimally invasive procedure that blocks blood flow to the adrenal glands works as well as standard medication for people with primary aldosteronism, a hormone disorder that causes severe high blood pressure. Researchers will compare the artery-blocking procedure against the drug spironolactone in 200 participants. The main goal is to see which treatment better improves blood vessel health, measured by a simple arm ultrasound test.
