New hope to slow kidney failure: adding common pill could boost only available treatment
NCT ID NCT05373264
Summary
This study aims to see if adding a common water pill (hydrochlorothiazide) to the only approved drug for a genetic kidney disease (ADPKD) can work better. It will test if the combination slows the loss of kidney function more effectively and reduces the burdensome side effects of the main drug, improving patients' quality of life. About 300 adults already taking the highest dose they can tolerate of the main drug will participate for three years.
