Summary
This study looked at whether testing people's genes before surgery can help doctors choose better pain medicines. Over 1,600 participants were randomly assigned to either get genetic testing right away or wait six months. The goal was to see if knowing how someone processes pain drugs leads to better pain control and less opioid use.
