Growing with the child: new heart valve aims to reduce surgeries for kids

NCT ID NCT05006404

Summary

This study is testing a new adjustable heart valve for children aged 18 months to 16 years who need surgery to replace a faulty pulmonary valve. The valve can be expanded before or after surgery to better fit the child's size and potentially accommodate their growth, which may reduce the need for future replacement surgeries. Researchers will follow the children for up to 10 years to check the valve's safety and how well it works.
