Can computer brain training boost ADHD treatment in people with addiction?
NCT ID NCT06906328
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding a 16-week cognitive remediation program (brain training using PRESCO® software) to standard ADHD medication (methylphenidate) improves daily functioning in adults with ADHD and at least one addiction. 248 participants will be split into two groups: one gets the brain training plus medication, the other gets medication alone. The main goal is to see if more people in the brain training group achieve a 30% improvement in their functional impairment score by the end of treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
methylphenidate (ADHD medication) plus a cognitive remediation program using PRESCO® software
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a more effective treatment approach for adults with both ADHD and addiction, improving their daily functioning.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study without a formal phase, so results may not be conclusive. The cognitive program is time-intensive (16 weeks), and benefits may not last long-term.
