New ER tool aims to get opioid patients treatment faster

Summary
This study tests a computer tool that helps emergency room doctors follow best practices for treating opioid use disorder. The tool guides doctors to order addiction counseling and start buprenorphine medication when appropriate. About 300 ER patients with moderate to severe opioid use disorder will take part to see if the tool improves care.
