ER decision-support tool aims to boost addiction care

Summary

This study tests a computer tool that helps emergency room doctors follow best practices for starting buprenorphine in patients with opioid use disorder. About 300 adults with moderate to severe opioid use disorder will take part. The goal is to see if the tool increases the number of patients who get a referral to an addiction counselor and start medication in the ER.
