Could belly fat help fix infertility? new trial tests fat cells to thicken uterine lining
NCT ID NCT07230600
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early study tests whether cells from a woman's own belly fat can help thicken the uterine lining in those with infertility due to a thin lining or uterine scars. Ten women who have not responded to other treatments will receive an infusion of these cells into the uterus. The main goal is to see if the lining reaches at least 6 mm thick, which is needed for embryo implantation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- AD-SVF (stromal vascular fraction from the patient's own fat tissue)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for women with a thin uterine lining or scar tissue who cannot have standard stem cell therapy.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 10 participants, so results may not apply widely. The treatment may not improve endometrial thickness or pregnancy outcomes.
