Needles vs. pills: acupuncture trial aims to ease antidepressant withdrawal
NCT ID NCT07390981
Summary
This study is testing whether a type of acupuncture can help adults with depression safely reduce or stop their antidepressant medication (SSRIs). Participants who are already planning to lower their dose will be randomly assigned to receive real acupuncture, fake acupuncture, or no acupuncture alongside their medication reduction plan. Researchers will track how well people can reduce their medication, monitor their depression symptoms, and check for changes in the body's nervous system to see if acupuncture helps with withdrawal.
