Tiny threads tested to tame donor pain

NCT ID NCT07243301

Summary

This study tested whether a special type of acupuncture using a tiny, dissolvable thread could help reduce pain and improve recovery for people who donated a kidney. Thirty-two kidney donors were randomly assigned to receive either the real thread acupuncture or a fake version that didn't insert a thread, in addition to standard pain care. Researchers measured pain levels and quality of life to see if the thread treatment provided extra benefit.
