Ancient touch meets modern ICU: can acupressure ease patient suffering?

NCT ID NCT06994715

Summary

This study tested whether a non-drug therapy called acupressure could help patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Researchers worked with 60 ICU patients to see if applying pressure to specific points on the body could improve their pain, anxiety, sleep quality, and vital signs like heart rate and blood pressure. Patients were split into three groups: one received real acupressure, one received a fake version, and one received no special touch, to compare the results.
