Could many women safely skip breast cancer surgery? major trial tests 'Watch and Wait' approach

Summary
This study aims to find out if a 'watchful waiting' approach is as safe as immediate surgery or radiation for women with certain early, non-invasive breast cell changes (low-risk DCIS). It will follow 2,500 women for 10 years, comparing those who choose active monitoring with annual mammograms to those who choose standard treatment. The goal is to see if avoiding immediate intensive treatment is safe and improves quality of life for many women.
