Scientists track hormones to predict acromegaly cure

NCT ID NCT00921609

Summary

This study aimed to better understand how hormone levels change in the year after surgery for acromegaly, a rare disorder caused by a non-cancerous pituitary tumor. Researchers followed 20 adults who had already chosen to have surgery, measuring their hormone levels at specific times after the operation. The goal was to see if early hormone tests could predict who would be considered cured one year later and to learn more about the natural course of recovery.
