ACL surgery slows Athletes' brains, not just their knees

NCT ID NCT07163468

Summary

This study looked at how ACL knee injuries affect athletes' brain activity, reaction speed, and mental readiness to return to sports. Researchers tested 60 male athletes using brain scans, reaction time tests, and questionnaires. They found that athletes who had repeat ACL surgery had more trouble focusing, slower reactions, and greater fear of re-injury compared to healthy athletes or those with first-time surgery.
