Radiofrequency zaps may change tendons in runners
NCT ID NCT07648199
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether a 20-minute session of a special radiofrequency treatment called INDIBA® can change the thickness and stiffness of the Achilles tendon in healthy runners. Nineteen adults who run regularly and have had no recent leg injuries will receive the treatment once. Researchers will use ultrasound and elastography to measure tendon changes right before and after the session.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
448 kHz capacitive resistive monopolar radiofrequency (INDIBA® therapy)
What this could lead to
If this shows measurable changes, it could point toward a non-invasive way to prevent or manage Achilles tendon injuries in runners.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study in healthy people, not patients. It only measures immediate effects after one session, so any benefits for injury prevention or treatment remain unproven.
