Dye test aims to spot cancer risk in achalasia patients sooner

NCT ID NCT02010983

Summary

This study tested a screening program for people with long-term achalasia, who have a much higher risk of developing esophageal cancer. Researchers used a special dye spray during an endoscopy to try to detect early, pre-cancerous changes more effectively than standard methods. A secondary goal was to see if food getting stuck in the esophagus is related to developing these cell changes.
