Can a simple social check improve leukemia care?
NCT ID NCT07671209
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether screening adults with leukemia for social needs (like housing or food) and offering early social work help is practical and helpful. About 80 newly diagnosed patients will either get the screening and consultation or usual care. The goal is to see if this approach is acceptable and can reduce distress and financial burden.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
social needs screening and early social work consultation
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that addressing social needs early improves well-being and outcomes for leukemia patients, pointing toward more equitable cancer care.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study (80 people) testing feasibility, not effectiveness. It may not show clear benefits or be too narrow to apply broadly.
