Could a plant hormone help tame prediabetes?
NCT ID NCT04722354
First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This small study tested whether taking oral abscisic acid, a natural plant compound, can improve how the body handles sugar in people with prediabetes. Five adults with elevated blood sugar levels took the supplement, and researchers measured insulin sensitivity and side effects. The goal was to see if this approach could help control blood sugar, but the tiny size means results are very preliminary.
