Nerve zap implant tested for stubborn arthritis pain

Summary

This study tests whether a device that electrically stimulates the abdominal vagus nerve is safe for people with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis that hasn't responded to standard medications. Five adults will have the device implanted via keyhole surgery and receive stimulation for up to 24 weeks. Researchers will monitor for side effects and check if the device works properly over 5 years.
