New radiation approach aims to shorten treatment for cervical cancer

NCT ID NCT06529809

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests a new way to give radiation for locally advanced cervical cancer. Instead of the usual 5-6 weeks of daily treatments, this approach gives a strong dose of internal radiation (brachytherapy) early, followed by fewer external beam sessions. The goal is to see if this faster schedule is safe and effective, with fewer bowel and bladder side effects. About 50 adults with stage IB3 to IVA cervical cancer will take part.
