New scan may spot hidden kidney cancer without needle biopsy

NCT ID NCT06949215

First seen Jun 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new type of PET scan (68Ga-NYM096) to see if it can accurately detect clear cell kidney cancer in people with complex kidney cysts who are already scheduled for surgery. About 70 adults with cysts rated Bosniak II or higher will receive the scan before their operation, and the results will be compared to the final tissue diagnosis. If successful, this non-invasive imaging tool could help doctors decide on the best treatment without needing a biopsy.
